Lindsay Lohan has been sentenced to three months in jail for violating probation. The actress, 24, burst into tears after the ruling in Beverly Hills, California yesterday (July 6), reports BBC News. Lohan has also been ordered to undergo a rehabilitation programme after breaking the terms of her probation in a 2007 drugs case. Superior Court judge Marsha Revel issued the sentence after hearing evidence from employees of a court-ordered alcohol treatment programme, which Lohan repeatedly failed to attend.

The 47-year-old was arrested on Sunday after police were called with reports that a car had crashed into a building on Hampstead High Street. He was taken to a north London police station and was bailed to return in August pending further inquiries.
